Saadia Ali

Senior Project Manager

Saadia Ali is the Monitoring, Verification and Reporting Lead on USAID's five-year Evaluation, Learning and Monitoring Initiatives in Somalia (ELMI), based in Mogadishu, Somalia. Saadia leads and oversees the third-party monitoring, verification and in-depth research across USAID development programmes in Somalia. Her main areas of expertise are migration, displacement and economic development. She has experience working with displaced affected communities in education and other social sectors like governance, health, economic growth and protection. Saadia previously supported Altai’s research work on the FCDO-funded Ethiopia Migration Programme covering migration route analysis in Djibouti and Somaliland, as well as major evaluative projects in Puntland for the FCDO and GIZ. Saadia also was among the team that coordinated research in the Somali region of Ethiopia to investigate and understand better migration managements focusing on information provision and capacity support for local CSOs on safe migration. Saadia holds a Master of Arts in Communications for Development (C4D) from the United States International University-Africa and a bachelor’s degree in International Relations. Her strength lies in building the capacities of people within the communities she serves, which in turn motivates her to continue contributing towards development.
