Alice Leroy

Deputy Director West Africa

Alice Leroy is Altai's Deputy Director West Africa based in Senegal and working throughout West Africa and the Sahel. She is notably working on growing Altai Consulting's Environment and Climate practice. Her expertise is in providing strategic advice to clients in the design of complex, multi-country projects addressing adverse impacts of climate change and the protection of biodiversity across Western and Eastern Africa.
Prior to working for Altai, Alice worked as a Public Partnerships Manager for the World Wildlife Fund (WWF). She oversaw the development of WWF France's international project portfolio leading her team in areas of project implementation and Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning. She was additionally in charge of interactions with all local project partners and public donors (mainly AFD, the EU and Expertise France). Throughout her six-year experience within the WWF international network, Alice developed a strong expertise in biodiversity and climate especially in WWF France’s fields of intervention (i.e. Central Africa, North Africa and Madagascar) and on the associated global challenges (i.e. post-2020 global biodiversity framework, resource mobilization, biodiversity and climate mainstreaming and alignment of investors and public donors’ portfolios with global frameworks on climate and biodiversity).
Alice also worked for the French Agency for Development in Gabon and Sao Tome Islands for two years as a Project Officer on subjects including protected area management and funding, the forestry and timber industry and agroecological value chains. She oversaw the implementation of projects financed through the France-Gabon Debt Conversion Agreement (debt for nature swap).
Alice holds a Double Degree Master’s in International Relations from the Institute of Political Studies (Sciences Po Aix in France) and in Economics from the International Development Research and Studies Centre (CERDI).
