Adrien Jouannard-Grivel

Analyst

Adrien is an Analyst within Altai Consulting's Middle East and North Africa team. Based across Amman, Beirut, and Tunis for the past three years, Adrien brings extensive field experience in emerging markets, specialising in conflict-sensitive project evaluation and private sector development in the MENA region. He has worked with a range of donors including AFD, the EU (DG NEAR, DG INTPA), the World Bank, IFC, and Danida.

Adrien contributed to a diagnostic on entrepreneurship and investment in Iraq, conducting a survey with over 100 growth-oriented MSMEs and startups. More recently, he coordinated fieldwork across six countries study on clean tech manufacturing and investment opportunities in MENA, conducting research in Morocco, Tunisia, and Jordan with government authorities, DFIs, and industrial and clean tech businesses.

Adrien also contributes to the development and strengthening of monitoring and evaluation systems and tools. Focusing on gender and conflict sensitivity, he has worked on several AFD-funded projects across Lebanon, Jordan, Palestine, and Iraq, spanning the agriculture, education, entrepreneurship, and WASH sectors. At the donor level, he supports the accountability frameworks of clients such as AFD and
the EU.

Prior to joining Altai, Adrien gained field experience in the Monitoring & Evaluation unit of a GIZ project on TVET in Jordan.

Adrien holds a Master's in International Security from the Paris School of International Affairs (PSIA, Sciences Po) and a dual Bachelor's in Political and Social Sciences from Sciences Po Paris and the Free University of Berlin. He is fluent in French, English, and German, and has elementary proficiency in Levantine Arabic.
