Altai Consulting is a long time partner of the GSMA AgriTech team. We support the GSMA and its partners (mobile operators, agritech companies, agribusinesses, farmers cooperatives, etc.) in Africa and Asia to develop and scale mobile agriculture services. These services are digitising payment and procurement for smallholder farmers, providing access to financial services (loans, insurance), and delivering agricultural advisory and weather forecasts. Altai’s role is two-fold: i) supporting the GSMA and its partners in the iteration of the mobile services by conducting quantitative and qualitative research with farmers; ii) measuring the social and economic impact of the services by providing complete MEL services (from the design of a Theory of Change and logframe to the collection of KPIs).

 

Similarly to its work with the GSMA, Altai has been supporting private sector stakeholders (mobile operators and agribusinesses) in the design of innovative digital solutions targeting smallholder farmers in low- and middle-income countries.
