Sophie Eshete is a Project Manager based in Altai’s Addis Ababa office. Her main areas of expertise are M&E and research with a particular focus on migration and displacement. Sophie has contributed to numerous projects including recent research on Tigray and monitoring reintegration outcomes of Ethiopian returnees from the Gulf states for the Ethiopian Migration Programme. Prior to joining Altai, Sophie worked with Mercy Corps Ethiopia to conduct quantitative and qualitative data collection, performed interviews with internally displaced persons on the Ethiopian-Somali border, and reported on success stories across other humanitarian projects across the country. Prior to this, Sophie was a Project Coordinator in the Governance, Security and Justice team at Coffey, where she coordinated large-scale and complex projects in South Sudan, Kenya and Somaliland. Sophie graduated from the University of Kent in the UK, and holds a degree in Politics and International Relations. She speaks fluent Amharic and English.
