This in-depth survey of all the provincial capitals’ prisons included interviews with prison management plus observations in the prisons of all Afghan provinces. The scope of the survey covered the physical infrastructure, security, operations, personnel and organization, of the prisons.

Altai Consulting was contracted to conduct a study which seeks to identify the social aspirations of young educated Afghans, defined by reference to peer groups or family members, as well as feelings of frustration generated by life stressors and/or unrealized expectations.
