Description

The Youth Migration Research in Somalia project was an in-depth research into youths and irregular migration in South Central Somalia for the International Organization for Migration . The research was comprised of (i) a quantitative survey of 1,200 youths from various vulnerable groups living in urban settings of the country, including irregular migrant returnees, IDPs, destitute pastoralists, and minorities, (ii) an in-depth qualitative research with youth groups and local stakeholders, (iii) a survey of 100 businesses to understand determinants of the labour demand. The survey fed into an analysis of socio-economic drivers of irregular migration amongst youths and vulnerable groups, and economic opportunities to support the integration of youths at risk into the local labour market.
