Approach

Altai Consulting has been mandated by several organizations to develop locally sensitive curriculums and conduct training sessions as well as on-the-job training for local teams, partners & beneficiaries. Most curriculums are designed based on practical experience and local knowledge.

Examples

Technical Assistance and Feasibility Study Unit (TAFSU), for the World Bank – 2004

Altai Consulting was contracted on the World Bank-funded project TAFSU to hire, and monitor the work, of high profile international experts within the Afghan ministries and build capacity of national counterparts within the project. Altai Consulting has prepared TAFSU to become an independent project implementation unit for the Government by transferring skills to Afghan staff.

Capacity building & market study on Afghan handicrafts, for CIPE/USAID – 2006

Altai Consulting has conducted an assessment of the opportunities on the international market for Afghan handicrafts, in the sectors of textile, jewelry, furniture & decorative objects. This project involved documenting the current production level and processes, and contacting the world’s main importers, retailers, wholesalers to collect their feedback and interest on these products. At the end of the project seminars took place to share the findings of the research and build capacity within the Afghan Women Business Forum (AWBF) members.

Other capacity building projects include a pocket MBA design and training sessions for Afghan managers of iodized salt factories (Salt Iodization Program), the training of UNODC database managers, the assessment of on-going capacity building programs in Afghan ministries, capacity building needs assessments among more than 200 Afghan NGOs, etc.
