Emmanuel de Dinechin is a Partner of Altai Consulting. His main area of expertise is Private Sector Development and Marketing in post-conflict environments.

Emmanuel has lead major consulting and research projects in Afghanistan for international organizations and private companies.

In 2003/2004, Emmanuel led the UNICEF Universal Salt Iodization project. The aim was to build a sustainable iodized salt supply in the country, as well as provide UNICEF with a thorough analysis on salt economics in the main cities of Afghanistan. In thirteen months, seven salt iodization factories were set-up, in joint-venture with local private businessmen.

Other key assignments includes providing on-going strategic consulting services for Roshan (the leading mobile provider in Afghanistan), assisting the Afghan Women Business Federation in putting together a strategy to strengthen the handicraft, textile & jewellery sector, and advising large food multinationals in their market entry strategy in Afghanistan.

Prior to working in Afghanistan, Emmanuel was a strategy consultant for Monitor Group, a US-based consulting firm. There he worked extensively with private businesses and public organizations. He developed strategic plans for the European operations of a US-based telecom company and for the French branch of Europe's leading brewer. He also advised the municipality of Port Elizabeth, the fifth largest in South Africa, on its socio-economic strategy.

Emmanuel holds an MBA from HEC (Hautes Etudes Commerciales) with a Major in Economics. He has worked in Afghanistan for over 3 years and is fluent in French, English and Portuguese.
