Eric Davin is a Partner of Altai Consulting. He is coordinating Altai Consulting Research & Evaluation branch and directing projects for major international organizations in Afghanistan, particularly focusing on projects with a strong field dimension and a nationwide outreach.
He has directed research projects for UNICEF (Safe Motherhood, Disability), USAID (Private sector assessment), ILO (Afghan Returnees) as well as the evaluation of the Facilitating Partners of NSP (National Solidarity Program), a major project for the Ministry of Rural Development and The World Bank. The project involved the assessment of 20 NGOs (Care, Acted, SCA, IRC, German Agro Action, Dacaar, Concern, Oxfam…) implementing NSP in rural areas around the country. A team of 50 people was mobilized by ALTAI Consulting, and field assessments were conducted in 25 provinces and 250 afghan villages.
Eric also designed and directed a nationwide assessment of the Afghan Media for USAID and Internews in 2004-2005, and supervised the evaluation of the Peace Media in Afghanistan, a 6 Months project conducted by Altai Consulting for the US Government in 2005-2006 involving audience study, content testing, and other qualitative tools implemented in 20 Afghan Provinces.
Prior to this Eric developed media projects as a Country Manager of AINA, a French NGO based in Afghanistan and supporting the development of independent media around the country. He created the Afghan Media and Culture Center, starting activities in December 2001 in Kabul, and launched similar media centers in 7 Afghan regions, managing altogether 200 people around the country.
He has experience in the private sector in Australia, USA and France, creating and managing the New-Media branch of the web agency Himalaya in Paris, analyzing social usage of new-media and developing cross-media strategies for companies like Orange Telecom.
Eric holds an MBA from HEC (Hautes Etudes Commerciales) and has been working in Afghanistan for more than 5 years.
