Aman Mojadidi is a Senior Researcher who specializes in social & economic development, education and health related issues, monitoring & evaluation and media.
Upon joining Altai, Aman's first project was working on SALAMT (Social Aspirations & Life-stressors among Afghans in Medical Training); a social research project which sought to identify the social aspirations of young educated Afghans, defined by reference to peer groups or family members, as well as feelings of frustration generated by life stressors and/or unrealized expectations within a (post)conflict environment. It examined whether these frustrations were principally generated by economic difficulties, or principally by clashes between young lifestyles and family dynamics; and whether negotiation of daily stressors results in significant health problems, such as reported distress or physiological stress.
Over the past 8 years, Aman has worked in several different capacities in his efforts to contribute to Afghanistan's social, economic, and cultural reconstruction. Working as a consultant for organizations based in Afghanistan, Pakistan, and the United States, Aman has worked at a grassroots level in the education, health, and humanitarian aid sectors. He has also consulted on different documentary film projects highlighting the conditions of women and the effects of war on the Afghan people. Aman has also used creative media such as sculpture to advocate for Afghanistan's disadvantaged populations, and to raise awareness of the conditions within the country.
Aman has designed, implemented, monitored, and evaluated education and humanitarian aid projects in different provinces of Afghanistan. He has led emergency response actions in the country, and played a key role in the introduction of peace education and environmental awareness among elementary school-aged children in Afghanistan. He has considerable experience working with local communities and urban and rural Shuras in Afghanistan, and has extensive skills and experience in building the capacity of local staff and stakeholders through training and workshops. Aman holds both a Master and Bachelor of Arts in Cultural Anthropology with emphases in third world aid and development, conflict, and identity politics. He is fluent in English and Dari.
