Alexander Bertram is a research consultant working in the Research and Evaluation department.
At Altai he has worked on a survey of businesses for the Ministry of Commerce regarding the Informal economy, which will serve as basis for a long term plan for formalization of the Afghan economy.
Since joining Altai in August 2005, Alexander has also worked on a series of nationwide surveys for the international military community to aid in the development of communication strategies, as well as quantitative data analysis for a range of research projects.
Prior to joining Altai, Alexander worked in Kunduz, Afghanistan, helping to implement development projects as part of the Afghan Transition Initiative. Previously, Alexander worked for five years in software development for a GIS Consulting Firm in the U.S.
A native of the United States, Alexander has lived in Europe and the Gulf, and has good knowledge of Dari and French. He is graduate of the School of International Service of the American University in Washington.
